Today I was on the plane and after we landed and were waiting to get off the plane, these two ladies in the seats in front of me were talking about how one of them is going to her granddaughter’s cheerleading competition. And she was talking about how her granddaughter is a flyer to the older girls because she’s small and she’s a base for the girls her age and this girl being a flyer scares her sometimes because she’s concerned for her granddaughter’s safety and stuff. Then she talked about how the coaches said the girl is so good, she has the potential to get college scholarships for cheerleading—“And she’s only seven!” I was not expecting that at all.
I laughed out loud and tried to cover it up by looking at my phone like I was laughing at something on my phone

"Then my dad came out and visited me in Germany, in Berlin, right before we were about to do one of our big fights, so I said, “Do you want to see what I have to do every day? Do you want to see what I have been training for for six months?” You’ve seen me leave the house but you’ve never seen me do anything.” I showed him and he was in awe of what we have to do, or of what we are doing and how physically insane it is, and how much preparation we put into it. He was pretty impressed - that was the first time I impressed my dad in that way, in a physical way like that. I think he was very proud. It was a really interesting experience."
I was the guy people would come over to and be like, “I want to punch you in the face.” I remember someone said that to me once. But I would use humor to get out of the situation and then we’d become friends. Then it was just over.
